The Rolling Stones Vintage Start Me Up t-shirt designed for Keith Richards

  

The design had been silk-screened on an assortment of t-shirt styles and colors throughout the 1980s and 1990s for my wholesale business. Many were overruns and have been in climate-controlled storage, while others have been worn infrequently over the years by me.

All of them, however, are in superb condition unless otherwise mentioned. The first version, drawn in 1980, was worn by Keith only for the last few months of the Stones' 1981 tour of the USA. Once I saw him wearing it on stage for the first time, I re-drew the design for him into what became the much better version you see today. It was also just in time for the start of the Stones' 1982 tour. The design is about 13.5 inches wide and comes with a glass Swarovski rhinestone in either red or clear adhered to the red reflection in the sunglasses.

On the back is the story of how it all came to be, with a collage of pictures of Keith wearing the t-shirt and the letter from Keith's manager Jane Rose, telling me how much he loves them and wanting to order more. Not only did Keith wear them on stage, but he also wore the t-shirts off stage during rehearsals and while hanging out with friends and family at his hotel. These have not been printed since the 1990s and will never be printed again. There are even some knock-offs floating around from time to time, so be careful.
